For what it's worth, Roderick Long does not identify as an anarcho-capitalist.

Good article, Ryan. I like the viewpoint that you have on allowing enclaves of people to define their own societal structure. That is one of the best parts of the original formation of the United States, and a federal or confederate system of governance. It allows individual states to create their own laws, while conforming to an overarching framework. This would also be a great solution to many of the problems created by social debate today on topics such as gay marriage and abortion. Of course, you'll always have the dissenters, but nothing is perfect.

Unfortunately, today's government tends toward federal control, which is leading to fiscal ruin as we speak, as well as dissatisfies different groups of people. Anti abortion and pro abortion groups should have areas which satisfy both groups concerns, et cetera.

You should not alter the political title you give yourself solely, or in any part in order to satisfy the concerns of others. A person should have the ability to define his or her own ideas as he or she sees fit, as it is our ideas and thoughts which are most sacred to the definition of our own identites, otherwise, we'd be animals! The "politial correctness" game is a dangerous one, because the initiator has all of the power to define and twist the marketplace of ideas. Because of politcal correctness, it is illegal to have christmas decorations in schools. Who is harmed by decorations of Santa Claus? Overall, a great article which more people and politicians especially should read, but won't.
